Greetings, Western Region!

I am excited and most humbled to submit to you my candidacy for Western Region Syntaktes of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and to request your vote of confidence and support at the 72nd Western Regional Conference in Las Vegas, NV, April 17th-21st!


A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I joined our esteemed sorority as a spirited undergraduate via The Elite Theta Epsilon Chapter, 22 years ago, at the University of Southern California. I am currently an active Life and Ruby Member of Theta Upsilon Sigma Chapter in Inglewood, California.


MY WHY:

While I have been honored to be a team player, and work behind the scenes in many areas of our organization locally, regionally and nationally, over the past 4 years specifically, I have also had the opportunity to develop and lead reclamation initiatives, influence regional growth, facilitate leadership training, cultivate relationships with members and affiliates, visit multiple chapters and areas, and deliver results with innovation and creativity. With these experiences, I have become astutely aware of the needs of our region to sustain our recent results, and lead us into the next dimension of GREATER. I am a servant leader that is not afraid to try new things, ask tough questions and hear honest feedback. Additionally, I was born and raised in this region, and my love for her runs deeply. This level of service would be my honor.

WHY ANDREA?

PROFICIENCY

EXPERIENCE

During my first term as your Regional Membership Chair, our region experienced an unprecedented growth of 43%. As a part of my efforts, I created the Anti Basilei Community, which is now known as The BABS Club. It comprises both undergraduate and alumnae Basilei & Anti Basilei, and provides training and collaborative support. Additionally, I launched the region’s first virtual Membership Informational & Sigma Academy, which continues to facilitate member development in the region post TORCH.


I have also served as an Undergraduate Advisor, an Alumnae Anti Basileus, an Alumnae Basileus, Regional Membership Chair, and currently as the Region’s inaugural Chief of Staff.

PREPAREDNESS

I have also had the opportunity to work directly with the seated Regional Syntaktes over the course of her administration, gaining an understanding of the role, and the roles across the regional board by building a rapport and working relationships.


This experience has taught me the importance of collaboration and teamwork, and I am confident that I have the skills and expertise needed to lead the region effectively.


The next Syntaktes of the Western Region should be prepared to take the baton and run the next lap, post Centennial. A successful and seamless transition in leadership will allow us to get right to business and EVOLVE into our next iteration of MIGHTY!

PERSPECTIVE

Finally, it is worth noting that I have served on international committees and have worked directly with the International 1st Grand Anti Basileus for the past 4 years. This experience has given me a broad perspective on the sorority as a whole and has allowed me to develop relationships with members and leaders across the organization.


Overall, I believe that my experiences and knowledge within the sorority make me an ideal choice for the position of Regional Syntaktes. I want to assure you that I come with a fresh perspective and a willingness to make necessary changes that are wanted by our membership. However, I also understand and respect the foundation and certain traditions that have made our region so special, and I will do my best to uphold and reiterate them.

Let’s strengthen our ardent belief in collaboration over competition and encourage the nurturing of Rhoyal Relationships between Sorors, Chapters, Affiliates and Leaders to foster deeper and meaningful connections, and simply enjoy one another.

SUSTAINABILITY

Prioritizing membership growth and development with a keen focus on retention and member satisfaction. Auditing current processes and building/employing new systems to achieve operational efficiency, inclusivity and effectiveness. And committing to regular regional communication to foster trust and cooperation.

SUCCESSION

Shifting our working culture to prioritize teamwork, increase productivity, offer excellent service, leverage mentorship, grow confidence in future leaders, and combat burnout. This approach will help us develop a strong and sustainable leadership pipeline that can continue to deliver exceptional results well into the future.

SUPPORT

Serving our members and the communities we operate in, well. Acknowledging the greater achievements and collaborations of our members and affiliates, and elevating awards that align with collaboration. Organizing specific leadership development and amplifying a Regional Service Initiative that all members and affiliates can participate in.
